Social Studies/ Science:
We are continuing to discuss storms in our weather unit in science. In social studies we began our Mexico unit of study by learning about the Day of the Dead and making sugar skull masks.
Reader' Workshop:
We have officially completed our first interactive read aloud, Mr. Popper's Penguins. Students enjoyed many penguin themed activities on Thursday's "black and white" day. Also, on Thursday students were treated to an Antarctica presentation from Mr. Whitmore. Our goals for this interactive read aloud included asking talk worthy questions, tracking narrative elements, and finding evidence from the text to support inferences about character traits.
Writer's Workshop:
Students have brought home their published narrative stories to share with you. We are now well into writing a second realistic fiction narrative story using all of the strategies we have learned. Students are learning to how generate ideas and develop believable characters in their stories.
Other Exciting News!
