Our first week!

 We have had an exciting first week of school here virtually in RM 21! Students participated in many activities to get to know their classmates and our virtual classroom. On our first day students took the Paper Chain Challenge in which they had to build the longest paper chain possible with one sheet of construction paper. The class record was 12 "kid feet". This activity began our year long conversation on the engineering design process and perserverence.

We celebrated Constitution Day (Tuesday 9/17) and as a grade students learned about what the Constitution is and why it is so important to us. In order to develop our own class constitution students answered questions like...Why is school important? What does Mrs. Williams need to do in order to help you be successful? Our classroom should be ____ everyday. What do I need to do in order to be successful? This guided our thinking in developing a short list of rules for our classroom. Each student digitally signed his/her name to these rules "ratifying" it as a class constitution.
